Innovation Is Key: Don’t Be Fooled Into Believing Otherwise

Who in your life acts as if they are frozen in a certain time period?

For instance, they’re still wearing the same clothes, have the same haircut, or the same way of thinking/acting as they did 20 or even 30 years ago. It’s as if they are stuck in the past. Innovation isn't a blip on the radar for them.

In addition, how successful is this person in today’s rapidly changing environment?

Hard question, are you stuck in the past? Are you still showing up the same way you did 5, 10, 20, or 30 years ago? And most importantly, is this “sameness” serving you in your business and your life?

For people who answer yes and feel content or even happy about this “sameness” more power to you. However, I'm not sure you will see huge growth over the years.

Innovation will be necessary for growth.

But, for the rest of you, who feel unsatisfied with your current status and struggle to know what to do about it, please stop being fooled by this misguided message of “You’re perfect the way you are, and you don’t need to do anything differently.”

The people out there peddling this message of “being born makes you worthy of all you've ever desired” are not invested in your success/happiness. Being born is not enough to get you to where you want to go.

To get ahead in your life and your business, you must continue to grow, learn, evolve, and most importantly, move. If this weren't true, we'd all be showing up like a frozen in time version of ourselves. It makes me shudder even to picture that for myself. I am so grateful for innovation.

It was Will Rogers who said, “The road to success is dotted with many tempting parking spaces.”

A few weeks ago I found myself in a room with a woman pushing the message to business owners of how just by being yourself justified raising prices and how once they understood how worthy they were, customers would flock to them. What a complete pile of garbage!

Her heart was in the right place. But, frankly it’s an easy message to sell. People who talk like this are often seen as more evolved and somehow spiritual. Many of us secretly wish we could put up a website and that customers, money, and abundance would show up. But, it doesn't work like that.

Please don't misunderstand, I'm all for manifesting what you want in your life, finding happiness within yourself, and I believe in empowering others. Yet, I do know from experience, it all requires effort. Even manifesting takes devoted time, thought, and practice. And business building, raising your prices, and making sales means you've got to continue to offer something of tangible value to your clients. Having the desire for people to hire you won't get you clients. Innovation is key.

Your Savvy Sales Tip this week on innovation:

Avoid getting fooled by this message of being born somehow makes you deserving of success in business. The most successful people are out there hustling. Hustling, meaning working hard, creating new and innovative ways to attract clients and deliver products and services that serve a purpose.

One of my superstar VIP clients, Kathleen Douglas, founder of The Experience Praxis Group, said to me the other day in regards to a business' sustainability in the marketplace, “What got them here, will not get them there.” This is why thought leaders, innovators, and top companies hire her to teach and consult with them on a disciplined, repeatable process to innovate.

Innovation is a key component to staying relevant. So, what are you doing personally or professionally to grow right now? Are you thinking of ways to innovate or are you holding on tight to your “sameness?”

So, what's it going to take to convince you to put in the time and effort to get yourself to the next level?

Wishing you continued success this week.
